NORTH BEND, NE – A driver was critically injured when her car collided with a truck in Dodge County Tuesday morning, reports the Fremont Tribune.
Rescue crews responded to the scene in the area of U.S. Highway 30 and County Road 4 near North Bend after the accident was reported at about 7:20 a.m.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said 29-year-old Roxana Vargas was driving an Infiniti G35 sedan west on Highway 30 when her vehicle crashed into an eastbound semi that was towing a livestock trailer containing cattle.
Vargas, a Columbus resident, was transported to Nebraska Medicine Hospital in Omaha, where she was listed in critical condition. The semi was driven by 63-year-old Richard Olnes of Albion.
When semi trucks are involved in accidents with much smaller conventional vehicles, the resulting collision can cause catastrophic injuries.
