Crash alert: Driver killed in rollover crash on County Road 24 in Saunders County
SAUNDERS COUNTY, NE – Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fatal rollover crash in Saunders County on Sunday afternoon, KHGI and the Associated Press reports.
The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 29-year-old Katie Weakly of Prague. Authorities said she was driving a GMC Envoy northbound on County Road 24 near Weston at about 4:20 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle.
The SUV went into a ditch, overturned and crashed into a tree. Weakly was pinned in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said she was not wearing a seat belt. It is not yet clear whether impairment was a contributing factor in the wreck.
