Crash alert: Driver suspected of DUI after hitting multiple parked cars in Lincoln
LINCOLN, NE – Police say a driver is facing charges after hitting multiple cars near downtown Lincoln Saturday morning.
According to WOWT, 24-year-old Austyn Jenks was behind the wheel of a GMC Sierra during the incident and was suspected to have been driving under the influence. He was found passed out in the car after it became disabled at the intersection of 24th Street and Randolph Streets sometime after 2:30 am.
Police determined that Jenks had struck five parked cars on the east side of 24th Street and a fire hydrant. He was cited for reckless driving as well as leaving the scene of an accident and driving under suspension. Police are awaiting the results of a blood test as part of their investigation into whether he was driving under the influence.
Jenks was injured in the crashes and hospitalized, but no details were released on his condition.
