Crash alert: 2 dead in crash between sedan and pickup near Jefferson County school
JEFFERSON COUNTY, NE – A man and a teenager were killed when their vehicle collided with a pickup truck in Jefferson County Wednesday morning, reports News Channel Nebraska.
The accident happened at the intersection of 725th Road and state Highway 103 near Tri County School at about 7:30 a.m. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said a 51-year-old man was driving a sedan east when he failed to yield to a pickup truck and collided with the pickup.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 16-year-old passenger in his car died after being taken to a hospital in Lincoln. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
Officials said there was limited visibility in the area at the time of the accident due to dense fog.
The highway was closed in the area of the crash for about an hour and a half while the scene was being cleared and investigated.
