Crash alert: Driver dies after head-on collision with semitrailer near Bennet
BENNET, NE – A driver died after his car was involved in a collision with a semitrailer in Lancaster County last week, the Lincoln Journal-Star reports.
The accident happened on state Highway 43 between Roca Road and Wittstruck Road near Bennet at abut 11:30 a.m. Thursday. According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, 58-year-old Roger Hoback was driving a Nissan north on Highway 43 when he crossed over the center line.
Hoback’s vehicle crashed head-on into a southbound semi driven by 47-year-old Brandon Parker of Firth. Hoback was hospitalized at Bryan West Campus, where he passed away from his injuries on Sunday. Parker escaped with minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office said it is not believed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the wreck.
