Crash alert: Head-on collision in Sarpy County leaves 1 dead, 3 injured
SARPY COUNTY, NE – One person was killed and three others were injured in a car crash in Sarpy County Friday night, WOWT reports.
According to the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, a Kia Optima collided with a GMC Sierra on Harrison Street near 162nd Avenue sometime before 7:40 p.m.
Omaha Fire and Rescue responded to the scene along with sheriff’s deputies. The driver of the Kia, identified as 55-year-old Michael Kelly of Bellevue, was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Nebraska Medicine. A passenger in his vehicle, a 42-year-old woman, was severely injured and rushed to Bergan Mercy.
Officials said the 32-year-old driver of the Sierra and a young passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to Nebraska Medicine.
The wreck is under investigation by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office Crash Response Unit.
