Crash alert: Man sentenced for Nemaha County hit-and-run crash that injured woman
NEMAHA COUNTY, NE – A man was sentenced on Wednesday in connection with a hit-and-run crash that severely injured a woman in Nemaha County last year, KETV reports.
The case involved an accident on 26th Street near Auburn on Mother’s Day 2020, in which 34-year-old Dustin Pierce left the scene after hitting 23-year-old Katelynne Moore as she was out for a walk. Pierce was found guilty in May of failing to stop and render aid, and tampering with evidence.
On Wednesday, Nemaha County District Judge Julie Smith sentenced Pierce to four years and nine months in prison and ordered that he lose his license for 15 years.
Moore, a wife and mother of two, was hospitalized in critical condition after the crash with a traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for weeks.
