Crash alert: Victim identified in fatal collision in Jefferson County
JEFFERSON COUNTY, NE – Authorities have identified a man killed in a car accident in Jefferson County last week, News Channel Nebraska reports.
This is an update to a previous story.
The driver who died in the wreck was 51-year-old Michael Taylor of DeWitt, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. His 16-year-old son, a passenger in the car, was also killed.
Investigators said Taylor was driving a sedan on 725th Road near Tri County School at about 7:30 a.m. when he failed to yield to a pickup truck while approaching Highway 103, and the two vehicles collided.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene, while his son died after being taken to a hospital in Lincoln. The driver of the pickup, 34-year-old Colt Feighner of Wilber, was not injured.
There was limited visibility in the area at the time of the crash due to dense fog.
