Crash alert: Elderly driver suspected of DWI after crashing through wall in Fremont
FREMONT, NE – A suspected drunk driver was injured after her pickup truck was involved in a crash in Fremont on Monday, the Fremont Tribune reports.
Police said 80-year-old Charlotte L. Bussey was driving a Toyota Tacoma north in the southbound lane of Bell Street at about 1 p.m. She went over a curb before crashing through a wall separating two businesses, according to investigators.
Her pickup hit an unoccupied Buick Encore on the other side of the wall, and debris from the crash struck a Chrysler 300 LI.
Bussey was cited on several charges, including suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and willful reckless driving. She was taken to Methodist Fremont Health, but no information was released on her condition.
The Tacoma and the Buick Encore were reported to be total losses, while the wall sustained an estimated $15,000 in damage.
