Crash alert: Hemingford man dies in pedestrian accident on Highway 385
HEMINGFORD, NE – The Nebraska State Patrol responded to a fatal pedestrian accident in the northwestern part of the state Friday morning.
According to News Channel Nebraska, the victim was identified as 72-year-old Chester Ansley. The NSP said Ansley was driving a pickup truck on Highway 385 north of Hemingford when he stopped to try to retrieve an object that had fallen out of the vehicle. At that point, he was hit by a Chrysler PT Cruiser heading north on the highway. Ansley, a Hemingford resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chrysler, 32-year-old Burley Shumpert of Chadron, was not hurt. State troopers are investigating the incident.
