Crash alert: Man sentenced to prison for fatal crash during pursuit near Seward
SEWARD, NE – A man was sentenced to prison for a deadly crash in Seward County last year, Nebraska TV and the Associated Press report.
19-year-old Julio Fernandez Bonilla pleaded no contest to manslaughter in connection with the incident that occurred June 12, 2020. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, Bonilla was driving a Hyundai Santa Fe on Interstate 80 when a deputy tried to pull him over for a traffic stop.
Bonilla took off at a high rate of speed and lost control of the SUV, causing it to go off the roadway. Bonilla and his 17-year-old passenger were ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was killed in the crash.
Bonilla was sentenced Wednesday by a Seward County District Judge to four to eight years in prison.
