Crash alert: 2 dead in head-on crash on Highway 275 near Wisner
WISNER, NE – A head-on collision on Highway 275 in northeast Nebraska Wednesday night left two people dead, KTIV reports.
The Cuming County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene about two miles east of Wisner after the incident took place at about 6:30 p.m.
According to investigators, the driver of one vehicle crossed over the center line on Highway 275 and crashed into another vehicle, causing both vehicles to catch fire.
One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene, and was identified as 56-year-old Lance Arthaloney of Lincoln, Nebraska. A passenger in the other vehicle also died at the scene, and was identified as 60-year-old Martha Pena Rodriguez of West Point, Nebraska. The driver of Rodriguez’s vehicle, 51-year-old Mario Albert Campos-Villalobos of West Point, was airlifted to a hospital.
It is not yet clear which of the two vehicles crossed over the line. The Cuming County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol are continuing their investigation into the wreck.
Highway 275 was shut down in both directions for about three hours following the collision.
