Crash alert: 90-year-old driver found dead after car crashes into lake in Kearney
KEARNEY, NE – Authorities said an elderly driver died when his car crashed into a lake on the west edge of Kearney last week, reports the Kearney Hub.
According to police, the man was driving a Chevrolet Impala at Cottonmill Park Wednesday sometime before 2 p.m. when the car plunged into Cottonmill Lake and became submerged.
The man’s elderly wife was a passenger and was able to get out of the car, and a bystander helped her to shore. Fire department divers located the 90-year-old driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.
Kearney police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
