Crash alert: Young girl critically injured after being struck by car in Omaha
OMAHA, NE – Police in Omaha were called to the scene of a crash that left a young girl critically injured on Tuesday night, reports KETV.
The incident took place on Boyd Street near 81st Street just before 7:30 p.m. According to police, the girl was running across Boyd Street when she entered the path of a Jeep. The driver tried to avoid her, but the child was struck by the vehicle.
The girl was transported to Nebraska Medicine with critical injuries but authorities said she was expected to survive.
A portion of Boyd Street was shut down to traffic during the police investigation.
It was not believed that drugs, alcohol or speed were contributing factors in the accident.
