Crash alert: 3 hospitalized following head-on collision on Highway 275 east of Norfolk
NORFOLK, NE – Three people were sent to the hospital following a collision in Stanton County on Tuesday morning.
News Channel Nebraska reports the accident involved two vehicles and happened on Highway 275 east of Norfolk just after 8 a.m.
According to investigators, Norma Zuniga of Norfolk was driving a pickup truck eastbound on the highway when the vehicle struck a deer. The pickup swerved into another lane and collided with another vehicle head-on.
Zuniga and her adult son riding with her had to be extricated from the truck after being trapped inside. They sustained what were described as serious to critical injuries, and were taken to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
The other driver, Allen Guenther of West Point, was hospitalized with injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening.
