Crash alert: Van and semi involved in fatal collision on Highway 77
FREMONT, NE – Authorities said a van driver was killed in a collision with a truck in Dodge County Wednesday afternoon.
According to WOWT, the incident occurred on Highway 77 just north of Fremont at about 3:30 p.m. A van rear-ended a semi-truck that was headed north on the highway. The driver of the van, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi was not hurt.
The Nebraska State Patrol and Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and shut down northbound Highway 77 for several hours while the scene was being cleared.
The crash is under investigation by the NSP.
