Crash alert: 2 critically injured in Cuming County collision involving semi and SUV
CUMING COUNTY, NE – Authorities said an SUV and a semi-tractor trailer collided in Cuming County Tuesday afternoon, leaving three people hospitalized.
According to the Norfolk Daily News, the accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 51 sometime before 2:40 p.m.
Cuming County Sheriff Brad Boyum said the driver of an SUV going west on Highway 51 stopped at a stop sign, then pulled out in front of the semi as it headed south on Highway 9.
The vehicles collided, and the two people in the SUV were pulled from the vehicle by passersby. They were listed in critical condition after being transported to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha. The driver of the semi sustained minor injuries, and was taken to the West Point Hospital.
An investigation continues into the cause of the wreck.
