Crash alert: Man charged with motor vehicle homicide in crash that killed 4 in Cass County
CASS COUNTY, NE – A man is facing charges in connection with a collision in Cass County that killed four people earlier this year, the Omaha World-Herald reports.
This is an update to a previous story.
56-year-old Ronald A. Dubas of La Vista has been charged with four counts of misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide.
The accident occurred Jan. 31 on U.S. Highway 75 just south of Union at about 7:15 p.m. Investigators said Dubas was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on the highway when he crossed over the center line and collided with a southbound Chevrolet Cobalt.
Four people in the Cobalt, all residents of Topeka, Kansas, were killed in the crash. They were the driver, 21-year-old Ashley Bracken, and three passengers, 22-year-old Tatiyana Wade, and two children ages 4 and 5. Another passenger in the Cobalt, a 20-year-old woman, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
A blood test on Dubas found no alcohol in his system. He is now awaiting trial and faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
