Crash alert: Norfolk woman killed in crash with semi on U.S. 81
PIERCE COUNTY, NE – Authorities have released details of deadly collision that occurred in Pierce County last week, the Norfolk Daily News reports.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene Nov. 25 on U.S. 81 near the junction with Nebraska 98 just after 11 p.m.
Investigators determined that 26-year-old Amanda Thackston was driving a GMC Envoy north on U.S. 81 when she crossed the center line in front of a Peterbilt semi that was headed south while pulling a trailer.
The vehicles collided and Thackston, a Norfolk resident, sustained fatal injuries. Officials said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time. There were no reports of any other injuries in the wreck.
The semi, owned by Associated Wholesale Grocers Inc., sustained major damage.
