Crash alert: Pedestrian fatally struck in Omaha by suspected drunk driver
OMAHA, NE – A suspected drunk driver was arrested following an accident that killed a pedestrian in Omaha early Saturday morning.
The Omaha Police Department reported that officers responded to 38th Street and Farnam Street in the Blackstone neighborhood at about 2 a.m. Police said a pedestrian was crossing from north to south at 38th Street when she was struck by a Mazda CX-5 going west on Farnam Street.
The victim was pronounced dead after being rushed to Nebraska Medicine. She was identified as 20-year-old Kaitlyn A. Vanessen of Omaha.
The driver of the Mazda, 30-year-old William D. Wright of Omaha, was booked on a charge of motor vehicle homicide. Police said his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.182, more than twice the legal limit.
