Crash alert: 1 dead, 2 injured in collision at 153rd Street and Q Street in Omaha
OMAHA, NE – Police said one person was killed and two others injured in a collision at an intersection in Omaha Thursday night.
According to the Omaha Police Department, officers responded to the scene at 153rd Street and Q Street at about 9:12 p.m. Their investigation concluded that the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was going west on Q Street, and entered the intersection at the same time as a southbound Chevy Cobalt.
The Volkswagen crashed into the Chevy on the driver’s side, causing both vehicles to come to a stop in the eastbound lanes of Q Street.
The driver of the Chevy, identified as 22-year-old Jacob W. Reynolds of Omaha, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen, 22-year-old Jayden M. Gilbert of Omaha, and a passenger in the Chevy, 20-year-old Matthew Lang of Omaha, were seriously injured and taken to Bergan Mercy Hospital.
Police shut down Q Street from Blackwell Drive to 156th Street for about five hours while the scene was being cleared.
