Crash alert: 1 dead, 2 injured in collision on Highway 2 during snowstorm
PALMYRA, NE – Authorities said one person was killed and two others critically injured in a collision in Otoe County early Saturday morning.
News Channel Nebraska reports the crash happened on Highway 2 east of Palmyra at a time when the roads were icy with blowing snow.
According to the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Michael McClintock of Pawnee City was driving east in an SUV when he collided head-on with a westbound freight truck in the westbound lanes.
McClintock was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two Falls City women who were passengers in the SUV, ages 46 and 27, were taken to Bryan LGH West in critical condition.
The truck driver, 41-year-old Andrew Kibbe of Fernley, Nevada, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Syracuse Area Health Hospital.
Deputies from the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol responded to the scene.
