Crash alert: Omaha man dead after being hit by pickup truck on Ames Avenue
OMAHA, NE – The Omaha Police Department reported the death of a pedestrian in an accident in north Omaha Thursday night.
Officers responded to 5627 Ames Avenue after the incident was reported at about 6 p.m. Police said 33-year-old Christian M. Bauerle of Omaha left the sidewalk on the south side of Ames Avenue and walked into the roadway’s eastbound traffic lanes.
He was struck there by an eastbound Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 32-year-old Demarcus Q. Hardy of Omaha. Bauerle was rushed by medics to Nebraska Medicine, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Ames Avenue eastbound was shut down from 60th Street to 56th Street while the scene was being cleared and investigated.
