Crash alert: Rollover accident in Madison County kills driver, injures passenger
MADISON, NE – A rollover accident in northeastern Nebraska Sunday night left one person dead and another hospitalized, KTIV reports.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the intersection of 832nd Road and 544th Avenue after the incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m.
Investigators said 37-year-old Shane Melcher was driving a vehicle that ran off the road and rolled over. Melcher was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 37-year-old Micaela Henkel, was hospitalized but no details were released on her condition. The two, residents of Meadow Grove, were not wearing seat belts.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the wreck and said that alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
