Crash alert: Woman dies after being hit by vehicle on Maple Street in Omaha
OMAHA, NE – A woman died after she was struck by a sport utility vehicle while walking on a street in Omaha, police said.
The Omaha Police Department said officers were called to the area of 95th Avenue and Maple Street Thursday night after the pedestrian accident was reported at about 10:10 p.m.
Investigators said 35-year-old Victoria Y. Castro of Omaha was walking in the westbound traffic lane of Maple Street. The driver of a westbound Chevy Equinox swerved but was unable to avoid hitting her.
Castro was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Equinoix, 37-year-old Joseph Harris of Omaha, was not injured.
Omaha police are investigating the accident.
