Crash alert: Driver found dead following car accident in Grand Island
GRAND ISLAND, NE – A driver was found dead following a car crash in Grand Island last Wednesday night, according to KSNB.
Police officers responding to 2400 W. Division at about 9 p.m. found that a Pontiac GTO had overturned after hitting at least one vehicle that was unoccupied.
The driver of the GTO had fled the area. Minutes later, police arrived in the 2500 block of West 1st Street after a 911 call and located the driver dead at the scene. He was identified as 42-year-old Leslie Brokaw of Grand Island.
According to police, Brokaw had been driving the GTO but was not the vehicle’s owner. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash, and said speed may have been a factor.
