Crash alert: Man arrested for fatal hit-and-run crash in Omaha
OMAHA, NE – Police say a man is under arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Omaha that occurred early Saturday morning.
According to a news release from the Omaha Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of 24th Street and D Street at about 1:19 a.m. Investigators determined that a man was trying to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle heading south.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as 43-year-old Tommy Tsosie of Omaha. Police said the driver who hit him kept going south after the crash and made a turn to go west on G Street.
The investigation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Santiago Paiz-Bautista of Omaha on Sunday. Paiz-Bautista was charged with leaving the scene of a crash which caused a death.
