Crash alert: Lincoln woman sentenced to probation for crash that killed motorcyclist
LINCOLN, NE – A woman has been sentenced to probation for a crash that caused the death of a motorcycle rider in Lancaster County a year ago, reports the Omaha World-Herald.
Lancaster County Court Judge Timothy Phillips sentenced 19-year-old Kylie Hill of Lincoln to 24 months probation and a $250 fine, along with having to complete a victim empathy class and a driver’s safety course.
In January, Hill pleaded no contest to misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide for the March 3 2021 incident that occurred in the area of 27th Street and Tierra Drive at about 9:30 p.m.
Police said Hill was driving a Pontiac Torrent south when she turned left onto Tierra Drive and crashed into a Suzuki motorcycle driven by 19-year-old Simon Blair. Blair was pronounced dead the following morning at an area hospital.
Hill told police that Blair was speeding before the crash, but witnesses said that he had not been. Lincoln police said that a strong odor of marijuana had been detected coming from Hill’s vehicle.
