Crash alert: Omaha woman facing DUI charge after accident that killed pedestrian
OMAHA, NE – Police say an Omaha woman is under arrest in connection with a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred last Thursday night near 26th Street and Lake Street.
According to WOWT, 21-year-old Sarah Faya has been charged with motor vehicle homicide and driving under the influence. Police said Faya was driving a Toyota Corolla at about 10:23 p.m. when she exited the North Freeway at a high speed and lost control while trying to make a left turn onto Lake Street.
The vehicle rolled over, went over a sidewalk on the west side of the ramp, and struck 37-year-old Ashley Dotson, who was standing on the sidewalk. Dotson, an Omaha resident, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
Police said Faya admitted to drinking and driving at speeds of 65 to 75 miles an hour. She appeared in court on Monday and was booked at Douglas County Corrections, with bond set at $250,000.
