Crash alert: Passenger dies after semitrailer hits car on I-80 near Sidney
SIDNEY, NE – The Nebraska State Patrol said a man riding in a car was killed in an accident on Interstate 80 last week.
According to KMTV and the Associated Press, the incident occurred on I-80 westbound near Sidney in western Nebraska March 9.
The NSP said Martha Mae Jessen of Des Moines, Iowa was driving a car west when she stopped in the right lane and then backed into the left lane, apparently trying to get onto an exit ramp.
The car entered the path of a semitrailer and was struck. A passenger in the car, 69-year-old John Jessen of Des Moines, was killed in the collision, which authorities said occurred during snowy and icy conditions.
