Crash alert: Speeding driver involved in fatal crash in Omaha, police say
OMAHA, NE – Police in Omaha were at the scene of a fatal two-vehicle collision on Saturday night.
According to a news release, officers were called to the area of 42nd Street and Grover Street at 11:07 p.m. The investigation determined that the driver of a Jeep Compass was making a left turn into a Mega Saver lot when the vehicle was struck by a Chevy Impala traveling southbound at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the Jeep, identified as 35-year-old Regina K. Bright of Omaha, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevy, 21-year-old Jonathan M. McDougald of Omaha, was taken to Nebraska Medicine with an injury that was not life-threatening.
Police said speed was a contributing factor in the accident, but alcohol use was not. The incident remains under investigation.
