Crash alert: Child on skateboard injured in collision with pickup truck in Omaha
OMAHA, NE – A teenage boy was injured when he was involved in a collision with a pickup truck in south central Omaha Monday evening, according to WOWT.
The incident took place in the area of 43rd Street and Leavenworth Street, where the 14-year-old was riding a skateboard. Police said he entered the intersection against a red light and collided with the pickup, whose driver had the right of way at the time.
The teen’s injuries were not regarded as life-threatening. At first, it was believed to be a hit-and-run incident but police learned that the driver of the pickup came back to the scene later on.
The intersection was shut down after the crash and traffic heading east on Leavenworth was diverted at 43rd Street.
