Crash alert: Firefighter killed in pickup truck accident in Scotts Bluff County
SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTY, NE – Authorities said a firefighter was killed when his vehicle was involved in a crash in Scotts Bluff County early Sunday morning.
According to News Channel Nebraska, the victim was identified as 21-year-old Hunter Lemley, a member of the Lyman-Kiowa Volunteer Fire Department.
The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 26 and County Road 12 at about 3 a.m. The Nebraska State Patrol said Lemley was driving a Ford F-150 when the vehicle went off the roadway on Highway 26 eastbound and hit a calvert near County Road 12.
Lemley, a resident of Merrill, was declared dead at the scene.
The Lyman-Kiowa Fire Department released a statement that read in part, “Rest in peace Lyman Fire Number 8, Hunter Lemley. The department will miss you. You’ll be on every call with us.”
