Crash alert: Head-on crash on Highway 36 in Bennington leaves both drivers dead
BENNINGTON, NE – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said a head-on collision in Bennington last week left both drivers dead.
According to KPTM, the two vehicles crashed Thursday morning on Highway 36 just east of N. 126th Street at about 6:45 a.m.
Investigators determined that the driver of an eastbound Toyota Corolla crossed over the center line and collided with a Dodge Stratus that was heading west. The man driving the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The man driving the Dodge died later after being brought to Nebraska Medicine. The names of the victims were not immediately released.
The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation into the wreck. Any witnesses were asked to call the sheriff’s office traffic unit.
