Crash alert: Head-on crash on I-29 in Iowa kills Omaha teenager
MISSOURI VALLEY, IA – Authorities are investigating a crash in Iowa on Saturday evening that claimed the life of a teenager from Omaha, KETV reports.
The accident occurred on Interstate 29 south of Missouri Valley at about 6 p.m. The Iowa State Patrol said the victim was a 17-year-old male who was driving a passenger vehicle north on I-29 and crossed into the southbound lanes.
The vehicle collided with a semi-truck head-on, and then caught fire. The teenage driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver was not injured.
Investigators are trying to determine why the teen crossed into the opposite lane.
