Crash Alert: Collision on Hwy 30 kills 1, injures 2
FREMONT, NE – According to WOWT6 News, a two-vehicle collision on Highway 30 left one person dead and two others injured on Saturday evening.
Authorities say the crash took place around 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 30 and County Road 19 when a Chrysler van heading north on County Road 19 and a Toyota Camry heading east on Highway 30 crashed at the intersection. The impact then caused the Chrysler to strike a nearby power pole.
One passenger of the Toyota, 44-year-old Dominga Mendoza, was killed in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. It was discovered that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.The drivers of both vehicles involved in the incident sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to local hospitals in Omaha for treatment.
Police shut down Highway 30 for three hours following the accident. An investigation is ongoing.
