Crash Alert: Rollover crash on I-680 kills teenager
OMAHA, NE – According to KMTV3 News Now, one teenager was killed and another was injured after a rollover crash on I-680 in Omaha on Wednesday.
Authorities say the crash took place sometime before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, near the intersection of I-680 and West Dodge Road. A 2001 Ford Explorer was found rolled over in a ditch at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver of the Ford was traveling west on West Dodge Road and attempting to turn south onto I-680 at the time of the crash. The driver sustained injuries in the accident, while a 16-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle in the impact and was later pronounced dead.
Police report that the vehicle rolled multiple times before coming to a stop in a ditch. Speed and proper seatbelt use are currently being considered as factors that may have contributed to the accident.
