Crash Alert: 1 killed, several injured in 4-vehicle crash near Fremont
SAUNDERS COUNTY, NE – According to KLKN8 News, one person was killed and at least four others were injured in a major crash near Fremont on Sunday.
Authorities say the four-vehicle collision took place around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon between Highway 109 and the Platte River Bridge on Highway 77. A driver of a 2020 Mazda was heading north on Highway 77 while a driver of a 2006 Kia Sorrento was traveling south on the highway. Both vehicles came close to the center line when they crashed into one another, before also causing a second accident involving two vehicles that were behind them.
The driver of the Mazda sustained life-threatening injuries in the accident and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment where she later died. The two people in the Kia sustained serious injuries and were also airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. They remain in critical condition.
Police continue to investigate this incident.
