Crash Alert: Motorcyclist killed in accident on NE-35 in Wayne
WAYNE, NE – According to the Doniphan Herald, a 71-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on NE 35 in Wayne on Saturday.
Authorities say the crash took place on Saturday evening near the intersection of Nebraska 35 and Centennial Road. A 71-year-old motorcyclist on a three-wheeled bike was travelling west on NE 35 when a driver of a 2008 Ford Focus attempted to turn north onto Centennial Road from the eastbound lanes of NE 35. The Ford crossed directly in front of the motorcyclist’s path, causing the motorcyclist to crash into the Ford’s passenger side.
The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and sustained serious injuries in the impact. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver and one passenger of the Ford sustained minor injuries for which they received treatment.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
