Crash Alert: Semi-truck driver leads troopers on chase following hit-and-run on I-80
GRAND ISLAND, NE – According to News Channel Nebraska, a semi-truck driver led troopers on a chase after they struck and injured a state trooper on I-80 on Dec 15.
A trooper attempted to pull over the 56-year-old truck driver after seeing them drive recklessly. The truck pulled over to the shoulder of the road only to put the car in reverse and slam into the trooper’s vehicle. The semi-truck driver then drove west on I-80 while police pursued him.
The chase ended two hours later when the driver stopped near Grand Island. Authorities used a police dog to get the driver out of the truck following an hour-long standoff. They then arrested the driver.
Rescue crews transported the trooper that was hit to an area hospital with minor injuries.
