Crash Alert: Driver strikes, injures child riding bicycle in Highlands
LINCOLN, NE – According to WOWT, an off-duty Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officer hit and injured a 9-year-old girl riding a bicycle near NW 8th Street and W Jennifer Drive Wednesday.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin was driving a pickup truck at around 20 mph when he looked down at his radio to change the station and collided with the girl around 8 p.m.
Rescue crews transported the girl to an area hospital with a brain bleed, concussion, and skull fracture.
The Lincoln Police Department is investigating the crash. They have not issued any citations at this time.
