Crash Alert: Motorcyclist fatally hit by car on US 77 near Yankee Hill
LINCOLN, NE – According to KOLN, a driver struck and killed a motorcyclist on U.S. Highway 77 near West Pioneers Boulevard on Thursday, July 11.
At around 6:20 p.m., a 67-year-old Lincoln man was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima south on the highway. While turning onto Pioneers Boulevard near Yankee Hill, he slammed the car into Robert Finley, 48, who was riding a 2008 Kawasaki ZX1000-E motorcycle northbound on US 77.
Lincoln Police said that the Altima driver did not see Finley on the northbound highway prior to the crash because of the sun’s angle at the time.
While bystanders rendered aid to Finley until rescue crews arrived, the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene at around 6:40 p.m.
The Altima driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
