Crash Alert: Police arrest man for fatal auto vs. pedestrian wreck near Long School
OMAHA, NE – Authorities have arrested a man for a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred at N 24th St and Decatur St on June 29, according to WOWT.
Davon Barnes, 22, was driving north on N 24th St when they hit Danayjha Britt, 19, as Britt was crossing the street from east to west.
Rescue crews transported Britt to an area hospital, where they died.
Following the collision, Barnes left the scene. He sought legal counsel after he found out the pedestrian had died and turned himself in.
Barnes told officers he thought the road was clear and didn’t have time to stop when Britt started to cross the road.
Authorities have charged Barnes with one count of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident resulting in serious injury or death.
