Crash Alert: Officials release more info on deadly Mormon Island semi-truck crash
GRAND ISLAND, NE – Officials have released more details on the fatal semi-truck crash into a Mormon Island lake on August 1, according to WOWT.
Verlin Hunt, 69, was driving east on I-80 when he strayed off the road, crossed the westbound lanes of traffic, and down an embankment before crashing into a lake at Mormon Island.
Hunt suffered a head injury in the crash. Officials believe that was what killed him.
Authorities have ruled out impairment as a factor in the wreck.
