Crash Alert: Man sentenced for fatal wreck near Hanscom Park
OMAHA, NE – A man was sentenced on Wednesday for a fatal crash that occurred at the I-480 and I-80 interchange on April 3, according to WOWT.
Omaha Police attempted to pull over David Kauai, 35, but Kauai sped off. He crashed the truck and rolled it multiple times.
Paramedics transported Kauai’s passenger, Mali Miller, 20, to an area hospital, where she died.
Kauai told officers he used cocaine before the wreck.
Kauai pleaded ‘no contest’ to charges of motor vehicle homicide and evading the police.
A judge sentenced Kauai to three years for motor vehicle homicide and two years for evading the police.
Kauai’s driver’s license will be revoked for seven years. Once he is released from prison, he will also serve 18 months of supervised release.
