Crash Alert: Man sentenced for fatal DUI crash near Spring Lake
OMAHA, NE – The man who was charged with a DUI crash that killed two people on I-80 near S 24th St on April 13 was sentenced on Monday, according to WOWT.
Martin King, 26, was driving a 2021 Kia Sportage the wrong way on I-80 when he collided with a 2017 Ford Fusion.
A passenger in the Ford, Ross Lewis, 26, died at the scene. The Fusion’s driver, Kyle Arnold, 30, died on the way to the hospital.
First responders transported another backseat passenger, a 24-year-old woman, to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The front seat passenger, a 29-year-old man, suffered serious injuries.
King was taken to the hospital with serious back injuries. A test showed he had a BAC of.175.
King’s bond was set at $50,000 after his court appearance. He pleaded “no contest” to two counts of motor vehicle homicide and one count of DUI causing serious bodily injury in November.
A judge sentenced King to 14-16 years for both counts of motor vehicle homicide. He received 2-3 years for the count of DUI causing serious bodily injury.
