Crash Alert: Man charged with fatal crash near Hanscom extradited back to US
OMAHA, NE – The man who was charged with a deadly collision that occurred near South 33rd Street and L Street on January 31, 2016, has been extradited to America, according to WOWT.
Eswin Meija, 28, was allegedly racing another driver while drunk when he collided with a vehicle driven by Sarah Root, 21. Root had just graduated from college that day. She died in the crash.
Police determined Meija’s BAC was three times the legal limit. Mejia was arrested for the crash.
After being arrested, Meija bonded out for $5,000 and left the country.
Authorities arrested Meija in February in Honduras. He faces charges of DUI, Vehicular Homicide, and Failure to Appear in Court.
