Crash Alert: Woman pleas no contest to fatal Fremont crash on US 275
OMAHA, NE – The alleged hit-and-run driver who reportedly ran over and killed a man near US 275 and Morningside Road has pleaded “no contest” to a charge of willful reckless motor vehicle homicide, according to WOWT.
Investigators determined that Marissa Utterback, 32, was driving a silver 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee at around 85 miles per hour when she hit Yashua Martinez on September 22, 2022.
Construction workers found Martinez’s body several days after the collision.
Following the collision, Utterback allegedly left the scene. She took the Grand Cherokee to a vehicle body shop for repairs, claiming she hit a deer.
Authorities initially charged Utterback with manslaughter. That charge was downgraded to willful reckless motor vehicle homicide. Her other charges were dropped.
Utterback will be sentenced on May 16. She could spend up to three years in prison.
