Crash alert: Woman killed when car collides with semi on Highway 81 near Pierce
PIERCE, NE – Authorities said a car and a semitrailer truck were involved in a deadly collision in Pierce County last week, reports the Omaha World-Herald.
The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 81 near Pierce on Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said 53-year-old Kevin Pelc was driving a semi and pulling out of a convenience store when he entered the path of a car heading north on Highway 81.
The car struck the back of the semitruck, went off the road and rolled over, ending up in the grass median. A passenger in the car, 36-year-old Cassandra Lacost of Pierce, was pronounced dead at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
The driver of the car, 33-year-old Peter Graham of Pierce, and Pelc, a Butte, Nebraska resident, were not injured.
