Crash Alert: Woman pleads “no contest” for deadly DUI wreck in Marietta
MARIETTA, NE – A woman who allegedly killed a man in a DUI collision at County Rd 10 and Rd L on Nov. 22, 2023, entered a plea agreement on Monday, according to WOWT.
Madisyn Haack, 23, was driving a Ford F250 pickup truck north on County Rd 10 with Bryce Budz as a passenger when she strayed off the right side of the road and then overcorrected. This caused the vehicle to roll off the left side of the road and crash into a ditch before coming to rest upside down.
Rescue crews pronounced Budz dead at the scene and airlifted Haack to an area hospital via LifeNet helicopter in critical condition.
Haack turned herself in to authorities in February once she recovered from her injuries. She pleaded “no contest” to one count of motor vehicle Homicide-DUI. She was initially charged with manslaughter, DUI, and willful reckless driving, but those charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.
Haack will be sentenced on Oct. 21.
